Message from the Superintendent
Greetings and Welcome to the Public Schools of Calumet, Laurium & Keweenaw. Thank you for taking time to visit the C-L-K Web site to learn more about one of the State's premier school districts. The Public Schools of Calumet, Laurium & Keweenaw was founded in 1867, and the success experienced by the district since then has truly been remarkable. Here are just a few things I'd like you to know about C-L-K.
-The CLK Schools is one of the most technologically advanced district's in the nation as every student in grades 4- 12 will receive an Apple iPad2 as CLK promotes its anywhere anytime learning initiative for the 2011-12 year. In addition, every classroom in the school has an interactive projector/white board to create a visual learning environment.
-In 2011, US News and World Report ranked CLK Schools 5th in the United States in its annual ranking of the country's "Most Connected Classrooms".
-In 2007-08, 2008-09, 2009-10 and 2010-11, Calumet High School was honored as being one of "America's Best" high schools by U. S. News and World Report, in collaboration with School Evaluation Services.
-Horizon's High School was chosen as the 2008 State of Michigan Alternative School of the Year.
-C-L-K Elementary School was identified as a high performing school by the National Center for Education Accountability.
-In 2010-2011, all district buildings received an "A" on the State Department of Education's Report Card and met Adequate Yearly Progress(AYP).
-The district has extensive course and extra-curricular offerings for its students.
While our Web site tells a powerful story, the best way to get to know the school district is to come and visit us. I am convinced you will like what you see.
Thank you.
