1.  Congratulations to the hockey team on their victory over Hancock last night. The final score was Calumet 6, Hancock 1.

 

2.  Congratulations to the JV girl's basketball team on their victory over L'Anse last night. .The final score was Calumet 62, L'Anse 35. The score of the varsity game was L'Anse 58, Calumet 46.

 

3.  Good-luck to the JV hockey team as they host Houghton tonight. Game time is 7:00 p.m.

 

4.  Good-luck to the JV and varsity boy's basketball teams as they host Jeffers tonight. JV game time is 5:45 and varsity game time is 7:20.

 

5.  TODAY is UP Hat Day 2012. Be Part of Hat Day and make a difference. All proceeds will be donated to Bay Cliff Health Camp. All you need to do is make a $1 donation and you can wear your hat all day in school. If you would be interested in participating see Joyce in the counselor's office to pay.  All students participating have received a sticker that should be on their hat or shirt. No sticker - No hat!

 

6.  The Counselor's Office now has the Summer Youth Program scholarships for Michigan Tech's summer programs.  These programs are for current 9th thru 11th grade students.  All applications and more detailed information is at the website: http://youthprograms.mtu.edu/ or see Joyce if you would like more information.

 

7.  Attention seniors. It's time to place your order for your class of 2012 apparel; t-shirts for $11, hoodies for $24 and sweatpants for $20.  Please see Mrs. Peters to place your order. Orders can be placed until Monday, February 6th with 50% due at the time of your order.

 

8.  The CLK Relay for Life Team will be holding a FAT Tuesday pie sale on Tuesday, February 21st. We are looking for volunteers to contribute pies to the sale. Any staff members or students who are willing to help out this important cause can sign up in the principal's office.

 

9.  The Kings Corner is having a Design A Shirt contest for the next Kings Corner design. Forms are available in the Kings Corner and are due by February 17th to Mrs. Twardzik's room.

 

10.  After school tutoring is now available in the Commons on the second floor until 4:30.  Please attend if you are in need of assistance with your school work or if you are simply looking for a great place to study.

 

11.        The Michigan Tech Employees Federal Credit Union has established a $500.00 scholarship for 2012 graduating high school credit union members that plan on attending secondary education or active military duty. The recipients will be chosen by the MTEFCU scholarship committee.  The Counselor's Office has the application. The Deadline is:  April 6, 2012.

 

12.        The High School Science Olympiad team will meet TODAY from 3:30-5:00 and Saturday from 9:00-noon. Some events like Robot Arm must to be completed by the team before competition. The Middle School team will on Saturday from 9-noon.

 

13.        The 8th grade class trip to Washington D.C. is holding a rummage sale fund-raiser on Saturday, February 18th from 9 a.m - 5 p.m. at the SS Peter and Paul Church on Madeleine St, Houghton.  Please drop off donations of used clothing, household items, etc. on Friday, February 17th from 3:30- 6 p.m.  Students who are going on the trip, sign up to work and gather donations!  Thanks!

 

14.        There is a white serving plate in the attendance office, belonging to someone who baked for the Relay for Life elementary bake sale last Thursday, February 26th. If it is yours, please stop by and pick it up.

 

15.        Reminder to all juniors, fruit orders are due to Mrs. Peters by the end of the day on Monday.

 

16.        The student senate is inviting all third hour classes to raise money for the Keweenaw Health Foundation by holding a coin drive next week.  Just like last year, the third hour class that raises the most money will receive free tickets to the hockey game on Tuesday night, February 14th.  Thanks for your help raising money for a good cause. The contest runs Monday through Friday, February 6th-10th.

Girls Basketball

The girls basketball teams will host Lake Linden-Hubbell on Monday, February 6 and Escanaba on Thursday, February 9.  JV game at 5:45; Varsity at 7:20. 

Boy's Basketball

The JV and Varsity boys will travel to Chassell on Tuesday, February 7 and then return home to host West Iron County on Friday, February 10.  JV games begin at 5:45 with Varsity to follow at 7:20. 

Hockey

The Kings will head to the Trenton Showcase this week.  They will play Howell on Friday, February 10 at 10:00 a.m. and Catholic Central on Saturday, February 11  at 12:40 p.m.

They will then return home to take on Houghton in their Massa-Cure Benefit for Cancer Care game on Tuesday, February 14 at 7:00 p.m.  Come support this fundraiser and cheer on the Kings.

The JV hockey team will  head to St. Ignace on Saturday and Sunday, February 11 & 12.  Game time on Saturday is 7:00 p.m, Sunday is 11:00 a.m.
