Great Explorations

BHK Great Explorations is a summer and after-school program operated in 10 schools in the Copper Country.  We are pleased to be able to offer this program at Washington Middle School.  In a unique partnership with C-L-K Public Schools, we are able to offer a variety of programs that can be enjoyed by all middle school students after school and in the summer.

WMS Great Explorations staff are largely WMS teachers who choose to be involved with students after school.  Our caring staff lead the way as we capture students' strengths by offering a variety of fun hands-on learning opportunities.  Programs such as:  Tutoring, Drama, Hunter Safety, Lego League, Science Olympiad, Bowling, and much more are offered throughout the school year.  In the summer, we offer a variety of programming that is designed for students.  We welcome student ideas and input as to how it can be a terrific summer.

Inside the fun, we have taken seriously the need to offer safe, high quality enrichment programming that is affordable and accessible to all youth.  We have partnered with the Center for Youth Program Quality to offer our staff training to improve the overall leadership of our program.  In addition, we partner with American Red Cross, American Camping Association, and Optimal Learning, Inc., to develop policies and procedures that ensure a safe environment for all.

Thanks for your interest in Great Explorations!  Please feel free to contact Julie James at 906-337-0311 ext. 3117.
